Why does no one buy these?
The "ugly duckling" of the CUV world, a lot of people ignore the Journey as a serious choice when choosing a new car. Some call the styling boring, but personally, I think it looks more masculine than others in the class. The pre-Fiat Journey was a pig, but the new one with the 3.6 Pentastar is a decent driving cute-ute.
The interior is leaps and bounds better than the old one. Nice materials and textures, decently roomy to boot. Reminds me of the interior in my mom's Vue, actually. There's also available seating for 7, but I can't imagine the third row being real roomy. It also has one of the best infotainment systems in the business.
The one thing that trumps a lot of the competitors would be the price. A fully-loaded Journey Limited AWD comes in at $33,675. That includes 7 seats, navigation, UConnect Web, premium stereo system, backup camera and sensors, and a 4-pin trailer adapter. Not spartan in terms of options.
So what does Oppo think of the Journey?

So no Dodges for you other than Charger, Challenger, and Durango?

True, but when your looking to buy a 3 row SUV you don't expect to get one for compact car prices. What I mean is, when people enter the 3 row SUV market they are ready to pay. I don't know. WHat someone should do is buy a Journey and re badge it with Fiat Freemont badges.

Dodge seems to have the problem of having direct competitors or better all around cars in its line up that go against itself. You have the Journey thats pretty decent, but then you could have a Durango at the same price or a Grand Caravan for that matter. You have the Dart thats been trying to sell for awhile now, but then the Avenger is still around thats a better car with the 3.6 and the rebates..you see the problem.

I've never noticed that before. I guess they just like for you to have choices? I dunno.

Yup. Dodge badge requires the Hemi V8 under the hood, driving the rear wheels as Hephaestus intended.

The great thing about the Journey is the 3rd row seat is optional. So you either get 7 seats or a TON of space in the rear.

What exactly does the Journey compete with? Cars like the new Nissan Rouge (with third row) and CRV and stuff like that?

Nissan Rouge, Chevy Equinox, Ford Edge, Toyota Venza, VW Tiguan, stuff like that.

I'd consider one. My aunt has one and loves it. They're not bad, really.

If I were to have to buy an American SUV in this class, I would probably pick the Edge.

Huh, everything around here that's Gov't owned is a Tahoe, Charger, or Crown Vic.

if you want space, you get a Grand Caravan for less. If you want looks/SUVness you buy a Durango for less. It doesn't know what it does best

What if I told you a new Hemi, isn't a real Hemi?

The Durango starts $10,000 higher than the Journey. The Caravan is more practical, but like you said, some people want the SUV looks.

ah good point, the Durango isn't less (I was thinking a fully loaded Journey/base Durango). But in fairness, two equally equipped models are not far apart. I've attached screenshots of both and they're just a tick over 30k, but both have 8.4 infotainment, sunroof, leather interior, etc. I selected the SXT Durango because the next level has lots of equipment that isn't even offered on the Journey - Xenon, Hemi, etc.

Kinja ate my last reply. The durango isn't cheaper, but it's barely more expensive than a similarly equipped Journey. Both models pictured have the 8.4 Infotainment, sunroof, tow, etc. I chose the SXT Durango instead of the next highest (RT I think, or limited) because the SXT is the last level before stuff is offered on the Durango that isn't available on the journey (Xenon, V8, etc)

Nissan calls it the "Rogue." I think yours is more appropriate.
